Loopy Newhouse was one of the very first members of the legendary Killer Krew, along with Vic Vella and Dave Light, starting way back in 1978.
He remained part of the crew—with a few breaks—until 1984, around the time of the Powerslave recordings. I’ve always wondered how many wild and unforgettable experiences this man must have had while working with Iron Maiden.
In recent years, I’ve been lucky enough to be friends with him on Facebook, and I’ve followed everything he posts with great interest.

Me with Loopyworld in Italian and English”

A few years ago, Loopy treated us to the release of his book Loopyworld (a true gem for fans—recently published in Italian thanks to the great Antonio Biggio’s translation, German, and Finnish.

It’s a book packed with anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories that only someone who lived the madness from the inside could share.

To me, Loopyworld is nothing less than a Maidenian Bible—for all of us who are always hungry for backstage insights.

My meet with Loopy in Bologna”

I developed a strong desire to meet him in person and shake his hand—and that dream came true during the unfortunate Bologna concert date, when the weather turned against us.
But thanks to Antonio Biggio’s determination, Loopy still made it to the show—and for me, it was a dream fulfilled.

Our meeting was brief, just in the afternoon before the gig, but it was intense and unforgettable.
Loopy turned out to be a humble, kind, and incredibly generous person.

Now, with age creeping in and a few physical issues, he can no longer travel far and wide to visit the many friends he has around the world—but he remains a close friend of Steve Harris and a true Maiden fan through and through.

I want to end by thanking him personally—not just for what he’s done and what he represents to all of us true Maiden fans—but also because he recently worked as the native English editor for my book’s English edition.
And that, alone, earned him a special place in my heart.

Thank you, Loopy—for who you’ve been, and who you still are to us all.
See you soon.
