Dear Nicko,

I wanted to write you these few lines because I feel the need to say so many things.

First of all, thank you—for everything you’ve done with the band over the past forty-two years. You’ve been the musical lungs of Iron Maiden in every sense of the word. The role of drummer, which you’ve embraced with such manic dedication, has shown me what it truly means to be a complete and refined musician. Even professional drummers have pointed out to me your technical skills and the clever subtleties hidden behind your playing.
I understand your reasons for no longer being part of the band in a live capacity, and I wish you all the best in your personal and professional life. You will always remain an essential figure in the band’s history.

Rest assured, I could never forget you. Beyond being a phenomenal drummer, you’ve always been a genuine person—never acting like a star, always smiling, always throwing in a witty remark. Your energy has always given me such positive vibes. I’ll never forget the small but intense moments you shared with me when I was lucky enough to meet you.
Any shyness or nervousness I felt vanished with your sincere smile. It doesn’t matter who’s behind the kit now—you will always be, in my heart, Iron Maiden’s honorary drummer. Thank you, Nicko, for everything you gave me—especially through those albums I treasure at home like sacred relics.
And thank you for the emotion I felt every single time I saw Maiden live around Italy. Oh—and before I forget—if for any reason you pass through our country, please let me know. I’ll come shake your hand… and maybe we’ll even have a good chat.

Take care, Nicko. I’m sure we’ll meet again—somewhere in time.

Your humble fan.
